A Wind Mitigation Inspection is actually a windstorm analysis of the home. It reports certain mitigating features of the home’s construction that reduce the amount of damage that a house may suffer in the event of a hurricane or strong windstorm.
These features and construction measures can grant a homeowner substantial discounts on their insurance premiums which will continue each year, depending on what features exist.
A Wind Mitigation Inspection will report on items listed in the Uniform Mitigation Verification Form. These include: type of roof covering and age, type of roof structure and shape, roof decking and framing attachment and protection, window and door material and protection, and other rated standards and code requirements.
These findings are then compiled on a separate form along with photos required for each of the features and sent to the client to forward on to their insurance agent.
